~ An End of Year Refection ~

Scrolling through social media this morning, I came across something that struck me: even when following Google Maps, there’s no guarantee that we’ll reach our destination the fastest, easiest, or most definitive way.
And yet when we miss a turn, Google maps doesn’t throw its virtual hands up in the air and give up on us. It recalculates and offers another route to help us get back on track. It doesn’t berate us for the missed turn or demand that we start over.
As we near the end of another long (was it?) year – one of self-discovery, reassessing relationships & navigating life choices, growth, and most definitely unexpected detours, it’s natural to wonder: Am I still on the right track? Have I been rerouted?
Let me remind you, as we step into a new year: rerouting is okay. It’s okay to pivot when things don’t go as planned. It’s okay to shift direction if the one you were on doesn’t feel right anymore. And it’s more than okay to give yourself grace as you navigate those turns.
- If the path you chose isn’t working anymore, it’s okay to change course and find one that does. Life isn’t about sticking to a plan that no longer serves you; it’s about honouring your growth.
- If the road you are on got too bumpy, it’s okay to look for a smoother one. That’s not giving up – it’s choosing sustainability over struggle.
- If the twists and turns along the way make you anxious, it’s okay to choose a straighter path. Prioritizing peace doesn’t make you weak; it makes you wise.
- If the straight roads feel too monotonous and dull, it’s okay to seek adventure. There’s no rule that says joy can’t be your guide.
My destination isn’t defined by how quickly or perfectly I get there – no matter the distance or clarity I have of it today. It is defined by the steps I take to keep moving forward. Even if those steps feel small, uncertain, or rerouted. They matter.
Rerouting isn’t a failure; it’s a recalibration. It’s acknowledging that the path I’m on isn’t fixed. It’s an invitation to trust myself, to adapt, and to let go of rigid expectations.
So, as this year closes, I invite you to reflect on your journey while I join you in doing the same – with a compassionate eye and not a critical one.
- What did I learn from the path that I walked?
- Where did the detours lead me?
- How did the bends along the way shape who I am today?
- And most importantly, where am I headed now?
The truth is the path forward will always shift and evolve because I am always shifting and evolving. And that’s the perfection in it’s imperfection.
Here’s to embracing the reroutes, trusting the journey, and walking into the new year with hope, grace, and a little curiosity for the road ahead.
Love always,
